PEIA has just been informed that Medicare will be sending out a follow-up letter to our members in late November regarding the decision by Coventry Health Care not to renew their Private Fee-for-Service Medicare Advantage plan, Advantra Freedom.
Please rest assured that your health care coverage is being taken care of and PEIA has already enrolled you in another medical plan with Humana, which will become effective January 1, 2010.
The letter from Medicare will include other health plan options for your consideration, which is a requirement by law. However, it is important that you understand that if you enroll in another Medicare plan or a stand-alone Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage) plan, you will automatically LOSE your PEIA medical and prescription drug benefits.
The most important thing to understand is that you are NOT required to take action. PEIA has done so on your behalf, and your health care coverage will continue, uninterrupted, with our new vendor, Humana starting January 1, 2010.
If you enroll in another Medicare plan or a Medicare Part D plan on your own, you will be disenrolled from ALL of your PEIA medical and prescription benefits.
