Face To Face Diabetes Management Program

PEIA's Face to Face Diabetes Program for PEIA PPB Plan members is available to its members who have diabetes.

Under the program, PEIA PPB Plan members and their dependents sign an agreement stating they will make regular visits to a participating pharmacist of their choosing for counseling services regarding diabetes. Those counseling sessions help participants get the best diabetes care available as the pharmacist works with them to ensure they: a) are current on all recommended testing and treatment; b) know how to properly take prescribed medicines; and c) have a physical activity and nutrition plan that will assist them in achieving optimal health. Participants can save themselves hundreds of dollars in waived diabetes-related prescriptions and lab costs.

Members benefit from Face To Face through improved health and quality of life. PEIA benefits from the fact that by better managing diabetes the agency can expect to pay fewer costs in complications of the disease in the future.

Those complications include:
  • Heart Disease and Stroke
  • Kidney Disease
  • Eye Complications
  • Neuropathy and Nerve Damage
  • Foot Complications
  • Skin Complications

Waived Copayments

Members enrolled in the program also benefit from waived copayments for the diabetes-related prescription drugs and lab tests listed below. They are responsible for their deductibles and any cost difference in the brand and generic if the participant or physician chooses a brand where there is a generic available. PEIA will pay 100% of PEIA's allowance for in-network services. Out-of-network services are processed at the out-of-network benefit level.
